St. John’s Mission Seminary, Changanacherry

St. John’s Mission Seminary Changanacherry, Kerala, was started in 1962 for high school students.
Fr. Zimmerman who pioneered vocation promotion in South India was the one who was entrusted with the task of establishing the house.
He, with the help of Fr. Joseph Puthumana,
Fr. Sebastian Pottanani and Fr. Augustine Chellenthara were the initial men who laid the foundation of the seminary. In 1966, Fr. Raphael Cheenath was appointed Rector followed by Fr. Joseph Madathany, Fr. George Muthanattu etc..  
A total of 965 students have been admitted to this house over the last 40 years and of these 122 are ordained priests. Another hundred are in various stages of formation. The seminary has contributed much in forming zealous, committed and active SVD missionaries to work all over the world. At present there are 30 students in this seminary.
